First Day of Weekday School 2009

Last week was Alexandra's first day of weekday school for this year. She had such a great time and looks forward to going to school! Here are some pictures of her posing on her first day. Avery decided to join her in a few of them.

Saturday morning we decided to take the girls on Lake Ray Hubbard in DD and Yaya's boat. We all had a fun and relaxing time. Avery actually went in to the lake this time. She had not really showed interest before but she did today! It was a bit windy. On the way back to the marina Toby was beaten by the waves splashing in his face. The girls and I were in the cabin so we stayed dry. Thanks DD and Yaya for keeping the boat at Lake Ray Hubbard!

A Camping we will go...

Alexandra has been talking about going camping and roasting marshmellows lately. Toby has always enjoyed camping. However, my version of camping is staying in a hotel. It is amazing how kids change you. Toby and I decided to buy a tent so we could take Alexandra camping and roast some marshmellows. As you know, it is too hot in Texas to go camping now so we camped indoors last night. We ordered in pizza for our campout. Alexandra had a wonderful time. She is excited about going outdoors to camp. As soon as it cools down we will venture out and take her camping. We are going with another couple who has a daughter Alexandra's age so I think it will be a lot of fun! Maybe I am getting a little excited about it too!! When we woke up daddy went and got us some donuts. We had a great time camping indoors.

Summer Playdate

This was our last weekly playdate with the VanHouten Clan for the summer. Alexandra and Avery always looked forward to Tuesdays during the summer because they knew we were playing with Samantha and Joey. The kids got along great! It is crazy how fast they all have grown. Heather and I actually got to carry on a conversation while the kids played independently. We will miss them on Tuesdays! However, we plan to get together as a family once a month. I know the kids will look forward to those days!!

Avery at 14 months

Sweet Avery is a little over 14 months. It seems she has grown way to fast. She is just as outgoing as her big sister! She loves to wave at everyone that is in her path. Avery is full of excitement and always has a smile on her face. She is developing some Independence. She loves to climb the stairs and now comes down the stairs by herself. Yes, I am definitely in front of her, but she absolutely does not want me holding on to her at all. Alexandra and Avery get along so well. Before bedtime, Avery will run into Alexandra's room to give her hugs and kisses then runs back to her room to go to bed. Avery is really starting to enjoy dressing up! I think she is starting to like the camera.

Playa Del Carmen

Toby and I went to Mexico last week. Yes, it was an adult only vacation. We went to an all inclusive resort at the Ibereostar Quatzal. Randy and Dianne asked us to join them. They have been to the resort several other times. We were so glad they asked us to join them because otherwise we wouldn't have thought of going to Mexico this year. It was beautiful! There were several different animals at the resort. We saw peacock's, monkies, iguanas, turtles, flamingos, swans and more. Toby had fun getting pictures of the monkies. I was honored to have one throw something at me while we were walking to the beach. It was fun walking places because you never knew what animal you would run into. Our day consisted of laying by the beach reading a book. It was so relaxing. The only time we got up was to cool off in the ocean or to satisfy our hunger cravings. We decided to stay on the resort and not do any excursions. We had reservations at night to eat at the nicer restraunts. The first restraunt was Japanesse. It is the equivalant to Kyoto's here. The food was very delicious (the best we had our entire stay there)! The next night we ate at a Mexican restruant. It is nothing like our Tex-Mex. I am so glad we decided to spice it up a lot here in Texas!! After dinner, we would relax on the beach and listen to the waves crashing against the shore. It was an awesome vacation and we look forward to going again next year!

Boz the Bear

This morning our church invited Boz the Bear to come and visit with the kids. First, we watched an interactive movie about Boz and learned different ways to show Jesus' love. Then, Boz actually showed up to sing and dance with us. Alexandra and Avery had a great time dancing and singing! At the end, the kids got to take a picture with Boz. Avery would wave and laugh with Boz but didn't want her picture taken with him. Here is a picture of Boz and Alexandra.
