Picnic at the park

The initial plan was to meet at The Dallas Arboretum and have a picnic. We figured going a little later in the day it wouldn't be as crowded. When we got there and realized there was no more parking on the grounds we came up with an alternate plan; a park in Garland by Firewheel. This park was huge! The playground is in the middle and there is a lot of land surrounding it that is perfect for a picnic. There were covered picnic tables but we chose to sit in the sun on our blankets. What a fun day in the sun! The kids had a wonderful time having a picnic and playing on the playground. I love that we can be so flexible when our original plan does not work out and still have so much fun!

Spring is Coming....

The girls are excited about being outside since we have had some beautiful days lately! Nana and Papa have bird feeders at their house and the girls love to see the birds up close and watch them eat. Toby and I decided to surprise the girls and take them to Lowe's so they could pick out a bird feeder. The girls were very excited and had fun choosing their bird feeders. Of course we went through the garden area and Alexandra spotted some flowers so we let the girls each pick a flower to plant, too! We came home that evening and the girls went to work getting the bird feeders ready and planting their flowers. They had so much fun and did a wonderful job! Now we are waiting for the birds to come so we can watch them and for the flowers to bloom. Come on Spring.........

Camping Out

Since the girls had so much fun at our Christmas slumber party we decided to have a spring slumber party. I decided to do a campout theme! First, Toby and I set the tent up in the living room. Then we started cooking hot dogs. My initial plan was to have the girls cook their own hot dogs but I decided against it. So Toby cooked the hot dogs. We had our cookout in the garage because it was a bit windy outside. The girls had a great time making their hot dogs and eating them. After they ate their hot dogs, we made smores! Yes, smores...what was I thinking they were so messy. I was thankful I decided to have the cookout in the garage. I looked up some camping games online but I could not find any age appropriate so the girls entertained themselves. Once it was time for Avery to go to bed the girls came downstairs and had popcorn and a movie! When the movie was over the lights went out. Did they go to sleep? No, of course not, they talked and giggled for about an hour and a half. Now I understand what the parents felt like at slumber parties when I was a kid. Finally at 11:00 p.m. I told them I could not go to sleep until they did. Thank goodness it was not long after that that they fell asleep. In my opinion, it is more fun to be the kid than the parent because as a kid you can catch up with your sleep the next day. They woke up about 7:30 and had breakfast. Then it was off to the playroom and the girls created their own magic show. It was brilliant!!! The girls enjoyed their time together and look forward to a summer slumber party. Not sure what I will do for that one?

Day at the Ft.Worth Science Museum

Monday morning the girls and I got up and headed straight to our friends house in Lewisville. We picked them up and headed to our final destination the Ft. Worth Science Museum. Of course, it being Spring Break, it was very crowded. The girls had a wonderful time and enjoyed the activities they played! There was a section for the kids to shop for groceries and check out. A place for the then to build their own train tacks and wear construction vests. One of the sections Alexandra liked best was the medic area. There were babies t0 bathe, weight, listen to their heartbeats, dress, give shots, and even look at x-rays! The last thing we did before we ate lunch was the dino dig. The girls were given a paintbrush and some other tool to dig in the sand for dinosaur bones. What a great day for them! Avery and Joslyn fell fast asleep in the car on our way back to Lewisville. Thanks Michelle for such a fun playdate!!!! I don't have pictures to share because I forgot my camera. I was so proud I had everything packed the night before, our lunches, snacks, and clothes laid out for the girls and I to wear. We did get to leave on time but without the camera. So goes life, maybe I will remember it next time!?

Spring Break 2010

We began our Spring Break on Friday with our best friends Meredith, Cade, and Kenslea! Meredith and I planned to have a picnic at the park but the weather didn't agree. We played at the house for a while, ate lunch, and then headed off to the park. It was very windy but we were able to capture some moments of their time at the park!

Welcome back, Sun!

I know it has been a while since I have blogged but believe it or not the girls keep me busy every minute of the day except when they are sleeping. By that time, I am worn out and just want to lay in bed to read. I am reading The Mission to Motherhood. I saw this book on one of my friends blog and decided to read it myself. It is a wonderful book and I recommend it to any mother! I have learned a lot and look forward to reading it at naptime or bedtime.


Tuesday after we picked Alexandra up from school and of course our happy hour at sonic, we came home and enjoyed the beautiful weather outside. Alexandra wanted to ride her scooter so I put Avery in the jogger and off we went where ever Alexandra lead us. We played follow the leader and Avery and I had to make every move that Alexandra did and when we didn't believe me she told us how to do it her way! I am so blessed to spend every minute with my girls and watch them grow and bond as sisters. Being a mom is the greatest gift and I love and cherish every minute of it! Life goes by so fast that I don't want to blink an eye because everytime I do my girls have another birthday. Even though I go to bed exhausted every night, I can't wait to wake up the next morning and spend the day with my beautiful girls. I am so grateful I have a supportive husband who makes it possible for me to stay home!
